Description:

This is a swap that @TerryF was originally hosting. Thank you to her for the swap idea and description! I know that there were lots of people interested in joining the swap, so I hope we'll have a great turn out for this one!

This is a swap for members who are just beginning to learn certain skills. Specific tutorials are provided so that everyone is making basically the same simple item. We don't want new sewers to become discouraged when they send something very basic and then receive something very different and/or more advanced in return. For these beginner swaps, we ask that everyone follow the tutorials provided. Experienced and new sew-ers are welcome to join, but please keep in mind that this may be your partner's first effort - so please be kind when rating and providing feedback. Thanks!

The item for this NFS Beginners Series swap is the Tea Wallet.

Tea Wallet

  • We will use THIS TUTORIAL : http://handmadetherapy.blogspot.com/2011/02/tea-wallet-tutorial.html

  • You may decorate the cover of the tea wallet if you wish but that is NOT a swap requirement.

  • It is also NOT a swap requirement to include tea in the wallet; however, if you wish to, please make sure you (1) check the import regulations of your partner's country (some prohibit the importation of certain, or all, types of tea), (2) check your partner's profile regarding their tea preferences, and (3) include only individually packaged tea bags with commercial paper wrappers.

  • Don't forget to include a note with the name of this swap and your Swap-bot user name in the package.

  • Sending on a time is a requirement of this swap. In the rare event that you may need to send a few days late, please contact your partner and the swap host before the send by date has passed.

This swap is open to NFS members with no unexplained/unresolved 1s or 3s as well as no overdue swaps.

NOTE: I need at least 5 participants (not including myself) for the swap to go forward. Please PM me with any questions!

Thx for hosting this dear!

I just made a trial run of this pattern. It is very easy. Just in case you anyone is tinkering with joining :)

I actually made one myself, it's fun to make and doesn't take too long. As a real beginner, I thought it was not so bad. I still need practice, but since it's a beginners swap, I'm hoping my partner will be indulgent ;-)

I just made my Tea Wallet, and I have to say this went together very well. I think the hardest part is putting the button on without sewing the pouches shut, or stabbing myself in the thumb. I will make more of these for friends .

@Dacia ~ I agree with you... the button part is not easy but for me, it was sewing over the elastic. I have a very cheap sewing machine and it didn't like that part.

I can't wait to have my partner to get started. I like to try and find a fabric color according to profile so I can't do it until partners are assigned. :-D

@Toupti , I think the fabric I picked most anyone would like, but I am growing more and more attatched to it, so I may make a different one for my partner. My machine had no problem with the elastic.
