Description:

October 22nd is Make A Difference Day. Celebrate by:

Making a permanent difference in someone's life (for example, adopt a dog, become a big brother or big sister, or anything else you can come up with...) OR by...

Making a temporary difference in someone's life (for example by joining chemo angels or adopting a US soldier through some organization, volunteering at a school, library, animal shelter, hospital, etc.. ) OR by...

Participating in some type of fundraiser or awareness event (for example, a Relay For Life event) OR by...

Doing some random act of kindness for someone (examples: in the fast food drive-thru, pay for the meal of the car behind you, help someone carry their packages, bring your elderly neighbor cookies and visit with them, let someone go ahead of you in the grocery store line...etc)

What other ways can you make a difference?? PICK ONE AND DO IT TODAY.

Then: write a letter to your partner explaining what you did. Some aspect of the letter (beyond your handwriting) must be handmade...Making your letter interesting... illustrate it, or send it in a handmade envelope, or handmade card, even a handmade postcard, if you can fit your story on there.

You will NOT rate your partner based on whether YOU think the letter was interesting or whether you think the activity chosen made a difference. You will ONLY rate based on whether you received a letter, with SOME creative element, explaining what your partner chose to do, and it was sent on or before the send by date.

If you flake, you will be listed publicly. AND hounded. This would be a stupid swap to flake on.

NO Swap drama. This swap is supposed to bring smiles to people, both the person participating in the swap, and the person (or animal) for whom they are making a difference.

IF YOU HAVE THREES OR ONES, PM AS YOU JOIN TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION. IF YOU JOIN WITHOUT DOING THIS, YOU WILL BE BANNED, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT A RISK AT ALL. IF YOU ARE BANNED, IT IS NOT PERSONAL. FEEL FREE TO START A SIMILAR SWAP OF YOUR OWN. YOU DO NOT NEED TO ASK MY PERMISSION.

edit: you must have been rated for at least five type 2 or 3 swaps

I absolutely love this!! ♥♥

I think I'll make this into a US-only version as well, since you said you didn't mind. :-) That will give me two partners! Thanks for this wonderful swap.

I want to recommend CHEMO ANGELS to everyone - It is so much fun and a lovely way to make someone happy while they're going through a really difficult time!

I agree, it's great!

I've been a Chemo Angel for quite a while and I agree it is a lovely thing to do. I also know they are short on funds and in danger of not being able to continue through the end of next year. A great way to make a difference would be to send them a small donation. Every little bit helps.

I'm a member of aok.tv, which is an online game of sorts designed for social good. You post acts and observations of kindness and gain points, which charities convert to real money for good causes. It's a great way to document what you're doing, plus it makes you more aware of kindness in your everyday life.

I recommend aok.tv to anyone who wants to keep the good going beyond this swap. It's a great website, plus it's free to join. Come say hi to me! Lolarati on aok.tv

Well, I am embarrassed... I made this swap close on a postal holiday!! :( I am adding three days, not to be deceitful, but in case anyone waited till today and wants to take it through the post office. (I totally thought MONDAY was the holiday!)
